Incremental #1

I enjoyed the practicing motion with the model today, even though there were so many bugs in the grass.  That was the only part I disliked.
I think I increased the size of the model from the fourth one on. I made her head slightly large for her body. I still need to practice my proportions. I have the gestural part of the incremental down. I think I captured the poses quickly and correctly. I think I do better with the incremental drawings that are on the same page than the ones that are on separate pages. It helps me see the movement at once and keeps it fluid.

INCREMENTAL SAMPLE #1

I apologize in advance that the scan looks like crap since my sketchbook is too big for the scanner. It makes all these bad shadows.

Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis from Stephanie Son on Vimeo.

I really enjoyed this when my drawings came alive. Even the small things like the tentacles on my octopi and the coral. I felt like I was being random at the beginning but as I kept working on it, I was thinking and planning about how I would connect the metamorphosis with the Plaza. The part that frustrated me most was when drawing EVERY SINGLE little detail and filling in those with black because that's how I started. The last section from my 'favorite place locally' was moving way too fast and I think that was partially because of the weather that week, certain people that were in the way and the complexity of the scenery. But I will learn to make environments to move more fluidly with more practice.
